Orthodontics

Orthodontics aims to place the teeth straight on their bony bases and to achieve a good relationship between the two dental arches.

The ideal time for the first orthodontic check-up is usually at 6 years of age, at the time of eruption of the first molars.

In cases where there is not adequate closure of both jaws, early treatment allows correction of the most severe occlusal anomalies by taking advantage of the child’s growth.

In cases where there is adequate closure of both jaws, we will wait until 10-12 years of age for placement.

Request an appointment in Palma or Manacor for your child so we can analyze the case.

Treatment is also possible in adulthood as long as we have a correct oral health.

Orthodontics according to your needs

Invisible Orthodontics

Invisalign: is a computerized orthodontic system. Unlike conventional orthodontics, as it is controlled by a computer, it is very precise.

This type of orthodontics straightens teeth by means of small molds called aligners, custom-made, removable and invisible for each patient, which are changed every 2 weeks.

Their teeth will move little by little week after week until they reach their ideal position.

It is a predictable, effective and comfortable system that changes and improves your smile without interfering with your daily life.

Lingual Orthodontics

It is an orthodontic system that works like conventional orthodontics, but the brackets are placed on the inner surface of the teeth.

The same results as conventional orthodontics can be obtained with excellent esthetics, making it a formidable alternative.

Visible Orthodontics

The brackets (aligners) are metallic or transparent.

Dentofacial Orthopedics

The objective of dentofacial orthopedics is to orient and develop the facial bone structure to facilitate the straightening and placement of teeth in their ideal position by means of conventional orthodontics.

Accelerated orthodontics using piezoelectric or “ultrasonic” techniques

The Platón Dental team offers an innovative orthodontic technique that consists of shortening treatment times through the use of ultrasound, which favors dental movement by reducing the resistance of the teeth during movement. In this way, we manage to considerably reduce treatment time and the side effects of conventional tooth movement.

Frequently Asked Questions

It is a specialty within dentistry that diagnoses and treats problems of position, alignment and space, as well as irregularities of shape in the jaw bones.

To achieve success in our treatments, we have a wide range of diagnostic tools to correct these problems.

Age 6 is the ideal age for a first orthodontic visit. This is the moment when the first definitive molars erupt and where we can, by means of an X-ray, detect possible anomalies in the position and formation of the teeth.

Advantages of an early 1st visit:

– Simplifies the most complex orthodontic treatments.

– In many cases, it eliminates the need for surgery in adulthood.

– It helps the patient achieve a beautiful smile and a harmonious face.

Teeth that tilt, overcrowding or over-erupted teeth are clear examples where orthodontic treatment is indicated.

Less clear signs are:

  1. type of breathing
  2. speech impediments
  3. finger habit after 4 years of age
  4. teeth where we see that they do not occlude well
  5. mouths that do not close properly

However, our specialists will recommend the most appropriate treatment for each individual patient during a visit.

Normally it is a painless treatment, however some patients report slight pain during the first days of treatment and minor discomfort may also occur with periodic adjustments.
